Julie Gurule serves as Director of Student Services for Damar Charter Academy, Indianas first public charter school focused on successfully preparing children with developmental , intellectual, and behavioral challenges for a lifetime of learning.
Julie was promoted to this role in 2015 after serving as the school's Guidance/Admissions Counselor. She also has served as the school's registrar, and prior to that worked as a teacher at Damar Academy. Her career in education began in 2006 as a paraprofessional in a traditional public high schools intense/severe special education classroom. In 2008, she pursued a graduate degree in school counseling, and in 2009 she began working at Damar Services as a one-on-one behavioral support staff. She joined Damar Academy after receiving her masters degree in May 2010. As Guidance and Admissions Counselor, Julie focused on working with prospective students and parents looking to enroll, as well as on the social/emotional, academic, and career goals of current students.
Julie holds a Bachelor of Science in Management and a Master of Science in Education from Purdue University.
